Crimson Skies

Nothing compares to our entrancing Arizona sunsets as the sun slowly breaks the horizon. I’ve traveled to some of the most beautiful places in the world, and yet, here in our own Sonoran desert are they the most engaging and stunning. Our vast skies and dry air often yield vibrant color, dancing between buttercream yellows, fiery oranges, soft pinks, and sultry shades of red. Further from the sun, gradually these rays give way to crimson, purple, and blue. For the best sunsets, clouds must be present to catch the light. The higher the clouds build, the more the sun’s rays reach and caress, igniting fiery color. We simply watch in wonder, as another spectacular show lights up the evening sky, before giving way to the darkness of night. Each a gift and a promise, morning comes after the long night and the sun rises once again. Her warmth washes over me as I begin a new day. I stand in anticipation and wonder, with my head in the clouds, eagerly awaiting the next light show.
After a recent art show here, us artists ventured up to our view deck, a glass of wine in hand. It was time to kick up our feet, recharge, and await for the sunset. Who knew this one, with its fiery reds, would take out breath away. There is something even more magical experiencing this wonder in community, a shared and memorable experience for us all. We are blessed!
