A Storyteller of Fine Art

Before Lucy Dickens puts brush to canvas to create phenomenal scenes from nature, she personally experiences them. She is also a storyteller—it’s one reason her award-winning paintings are unique.

“I most enjoy painting from travel journeys, bringing viewers along through images and a written story. I hope to evoke feelings of serenity and grace, creating scenes that transport you to another place and time. There is a story evolving all around us, and my hope is to inspire others through my images and words.”

Saturday, Cowgirl Up! opens its doors for a public preview in the morning, offering a first look at the galleries and a chance to own Cowgirl Up! miniature artworks. Late morning features a book signing and a presentation titled: Mac Schweitzer: A Southwest Maverick and Her Art with author and historian Dr. Ann Hedlund.

The festivities continue into the evening with the Main Gallery silent auction, followed by dinner and our annual live auction/fundraiser beneath the big tent

Sunday at Cowgirl Up! begins with breakfast under the big tent while artists set up for the annual Quick Draw outside the Museum on Frontier Street. As the morning continues, visitors can watch new works take shape before the auction begins, where the freshly created pieces are sold. It’s an annual gathering and flurry of creativity you won’t want to miss.

Carefree Artist Paints Essence of Nature’s Beauty

Artist Lucy Dickens personally experiences her subjects before ever picking up her paintbrush. She paints what she sees. Lucy’s oil-on-canvas paintings focus on landscapes, botanicals and wildlife. Not only are the sights and sounds of nature expressed through her work, so is her deep faith in God. This is her inspiration to create praiseworthy paintings, and it is the sentiment woven throughout her life and in all her creativity.
