Claret Cup Beautie

Always on the lookout for gorgeous new cactus specimens for my desert gardens to enjoy and paint from, I came across the Echinocereus triglochidiatus or Claret Cup Cactus. These striking red orange flowers are one of the most stunning hedgehog cacti, forming a dense clump of stems up to a foot tall. They are a hearty and beautiful accent to rock gardens. The robust and numerous flowers create a breathtaking mound of scarlet, a glowing bouquet, and are even pollinated by hummingbirds!
