A Glorious Unfolding
What a glorious surprise the desert holds! From a cactus armored in thorns emerges a breathtaking display of delicate blossoms, their luminous petals unfolding in shades of apricot, gold, coral, and fuchsia. Such extravagant beauty from something so rugged and unassuming. How can something so tender emerge from something so fiercely protected? Yet perhaps that is one of creation’s most beautiful reminders. Even in life’s deserts and thorny places, something wonderful may be quietly taking shape.
We cannot always see what is coming, nor can we hurry the seasons of our lives. But in God’s perfect timing, beauty can emerge where we least expect it, reminding us that even the most difficult journeys can hold the promise of something glorious. And when that moment arrives, what a beautiful unfolding it can be! Perhaps that is the wonder of life itself: even among the thorns, beauty is waiting for its moment to unfold.
These incredible blooms are an Argentine Giant hybrid, a Trichopsis hybrid called “Apricot Glow” by Dr. Mark Dimmitt of Tucson, Arizona, and one of the most spectacular! Whenever I learn of a beauty like this, I promptly plant them in my yard so I can enjoy their entrancing unfolding and then capture these beauties on canvas!
