Look Mama!
Perched proudly on the stones, the tiniest quail chirped, “Look, Mama!” as she flapped her fuzzy little wings with all her might. In her mind, she was already taking flight, yes, Gambel’s quail can and do fly. Mama smiled quietly nearby, knowing that some adventures begin with a great big leap of faith…and some with a very tiny wobble.
Spring in the desert is filled with precious new life. One of my favorite moments is watching newborn quail chicks drop from my flowerpots, scurrying this way and that. They are so adorable! These babies begin life with tiny little feet and curious hearts, staying close to their mama as they explore the world around them. While small and wobbly, they are learning quickly and finding the courage to fly. In her innocent confidence and excitement, we are reminded of all the little milestones every child makes. Inspired by the sweet anticipation of new life and the wonder of first beginnings, this painting celebrates the playful courage tucked inside every little soul.
