Awakening

Within the darkness of night, the great Argentine Giant blooms awaken, welcoming the moon. Petal by petal, she spreads wide, eight to twelve inches, brilliantly attracting nighttime pollinators with her tantalizing scent. While they bloom four to five times per summer, each blossom only lasts for 24 hours, by mid-day they are almost completely closed. These fleeting beauties are such an exciting joy to wake up to, always encouraging me to capture them forever on canvas.
