Morning Glory

While staying with friends on their houseboat at Lake Powell, we decided to go for an early morning hike to the dam. Peeking through the shadows were these brilliant Prickly Pear blooms opening to catch the morning sun. Watching the bee buzz in and out collecting his nectar was a wonderful little gift. The desert can seem a harsh and dry environment, and often it is, yet the spring blooms are something very special to experience. It reminds me of our lives, often our circumstances can be difficult and harsh, even painful and yet there is always light and beauty when you look for it, something to be grateful for.
