Ladies of the Forest
“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.” -Vincent Van Gogh
For as long as I can remember, purple & blue Iris’ have been my favorite flower. These magnificent blooms with their unique shape, and delicate petals always leave me with a smile. The Iris was named after a Greek goddess, a messenger of the gods as a link between heaven and earth. Over time, these blooms have long symbolized faith, hope, and wisdom. I can’t admire these beautiful “ladies”, and not think of my mom. She has grown them for years. Some time ago, she dug up many of her bulbs, and planted them at our previous cabin. Each spring I arrived, watching and waiting for blooms, but kept missing them! It seemed to always be too early or too late when I arrived. Later, we sold that property and bought a new place on the mountain. Mom and I dug up these precious bulbs and planted them in the woods at our new place where they have thrived. Another spring went by and I missed them once again. Finally, a few weeks ago I caught these beautiful ladies in full bloom…imagine my excitement!! At last… how could I not capture them forever!
