I love these beautiful “Chenille” Prickly Pear cactus and their vibrant blooms. These are the Opuntia aciculata but received their chenille name as the thorn patches have a furry look to them. This rare species is generally found along the Rio Grande, in south Texas.
I am fortunate to have a number of them gracing my yard, here in Arizona. I like to think of these as my Arizona roses, beauty amongst the thorns.
