Spring Bliss
Wild burros are plentiful around our picturesque Lake Pleasant and the surrounding lands. The terrain is filled with rugged mountains, small canyons, ample vegetation, and plentiful water. Burros were originally introduced to the southwest desert by the Spaniards in the 1500’s and are well adapted to our climate. They accompanied explorers and pioneers and became pack animals for prospectors. After the mining boom, many were turned loose, eventually flourishing in our desert wilderness. We came across these beauties while staying at Castle Hot Springs celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. As we were leaving and driving around the lake, we were blessed with many burro sightings. What a beautiful gift!
