Shadows Learn to Blossom

Shadows are not to be feared or escaped from; they are where the flower forms and unfolds, seeking the light. Light is what first draws me in and fills me with a desire to paint, to capture a scene. What is light without darkness and the interplay within, the dance between them? It is a resilience, beauty, and warmth which slowly emerges where the shadows can be appreciated as a complement to the light. It is as if they are collaborators, each revealing the other. I paint this beautiful and powerful unfolding with a joyful heart, knowing it will not last, an offering of beauty which will faithfully return.
