Morning Walk

What an incredible way to start the day with a morning walk through the woods. I could have explored this path through light and shadow endlessly, how peaceful yet exciting at the same time. This magical location was shared with me while taking a photography workshop up in Flagstaff last fall.

We arrived before the sunrise, watching and waiting like children on Christmas morning for the light to crest the mountain. Ahhh, so beautiful as the sunlight stretched over and struck the Aspen trees and grasses. I learned in Arizona they call these Aspen groves amidst the pine trees “sky islands”, what a perfect name for these wonderful gifts! I so enjoyed watching the young Aspen dance along the trail all aglow, framed by this proud and ancient one.
