Come Away With Me #1
I chose this scene to paint next for the rich color and the emotional pull I felt as the waves lapped up against the shoreline. We had shared chocolate shakes sitting at one of these wonderful restaurants overlooking the water and they were delicious! I first toned the canvas with crimson and then went over my pencil sketch lines with a transparent red oxide. I had to pencil sketch this one first, ruler in hand, making sure to get all the building perspective lines accurate, there were just too many for me to “wing it”. Now I am starting to block in my darkest darks and lightest lights. I will do a rough block in to cover all the canvas before I then go back and refine color and contrast and build up my paint layers and further detail work.
