Borman Commission
Morning Hike is from a wonderful experience exploring the trails of the Spur Cross Conservation Area in Cave Creek, Arizona. Spring is a wonderful time to hike these trails with all the beautiful blooms, a kaleidoscope of color in the desert. The foliage is much lusher and denser here compared to other areas of our Sonoran Desert. I love all the layered mountain ranges as well, what a stunning backdrop. Cave Creek runs through this here and it is such a special treat to see it flowing, after a rainy season. During this adventure, there was water and all the blooms testify to the winter and spring rains. Spring also brings baby quail aplenty too! They are so tiny and fast, entrancing to watch, and I could not resist capturing them here.
Ty and Linda found me recently at the Hidden in the Hills Open Studio Tour. Loving “Hiking Spur Cross” and their spectacular desert mountain views, they commissioned this painting to capture the essence. They also love Gamblin’s Quail and spring when the chicks are so prevalent and asked for them to be included as well.
