Bobcats are frequent visitors around my desert home in Arizona. Watching these beauties, I reflect on their gracefulness, strength, and watchfulness. Bobcats are playful and majestic creatures and vary in color from reddish-orange to pale brown-grey. Their chest, belly, and insides of their legs are white with black spots. They have short bobbed tails, hence the name bobcat. Their ears are pointed with tufts of black hair at the tips. These cats are about twice the size of a house cat, about 12-30 pounds.

Bobcats are extremely adaptable in Northern America, commonly found throughout the Sonoran Desert, rimrock, and forests. While they are generally timid around humans, they are tremendously strong and known for their hunting skills. Bobcats are nocturnal and territorial, they are usually alone but can be seen in mating pairs or mothers with their kittens, which we have often seen nearby.
