During the first weekend of Hidden in the Hills I began this painting of the Mykonos, Greece coastline. I liked elements of each photo but none were quite right. The composition was closest in the top photo but I did not like the crosses and the door obstructed. In the lower right, I loved the overlapping Bouganvilla blooming and the dark cliff bank just behind the church for contrast. The lower left photo shows me the door and the crosses set against the blue water. With all this in mind I first wash my canvas with Alizaren Crimson and sketch in my composition and began to block in the shapes and colors.
