Butterfly Encounter

On our way to visit Niagara Falls we stopped first at the Butterfly Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, who could resist! Strolling through the paths of this exotic rain forest setting I could not help feeling like a kid on Christmas morning, butterflies, butterflies everywhere! So many fluttering here and there, landing on me and then taking flight once again. The colors a kaleidoscope of jewel tones in motion, living jewelry, a precious gift accenting the lush foliage throughout. How magical, the dance of a butterfly… I find myself completely mesmerized, entranced even.
Such struggle each goes through only to emerge from this adversity free and beautiful indeed. I could have spent all day in here, observing and photographing each one. Richard had to practically drag me out to go and visit the falls!!
During Hidden in the Hills Open Studio Tour I had the opportunity to create both of these paintings as demonstrations. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have painting them!
